Celtics Win in NBA’s Best; Canucks Climbing Rapidly in the NHL

Manu GinobiliThe Boston Celtics were victorious in the battle of the NBA’s best on Wednesday, coming out 105-103 0ver the San Antonio Spurs. It was a truly close game, though, as Ray Allen led the Celtics to a 105-96 lead with less than a minute left. San Antonio scored seven consecutive points in those final seconds, but Manu Ginobili’s final 24-foot shot was blocked by Pierce. “You knew it was going to be a nip-tuck game pretty much all night,” Pierce said. “You got two heavyweights battling and it was fun to be a part of it. I’m just glad we won.”

The Vancouver Canucks are on a roll, ending Wednesday’s game at 3-1 over the Calgary Flames. Roberto Luongo finished with 43 saves, helping the Canucks win their seventh consecutive game, and upping their record to a league-best of 57 points. The Canucks are now 26-8-5. Ryan Kesler and Kevin Bieska scored goals during the first period, and Daniel Sedin added one in the second.
